Gnista – Just Like Any Spirit, Except It’s Not
Gnista (Swedish for “spark”) is a non-alcoholic spirit made with wormwood, green herbs, and hints of citrus peels! They say theirs is “the first non-alcoholic spirit that truly resembles a fine spirit.” While we can’t say if they were the first, we are happy to see them in the ever-growing lineup of non-alcoholic spirits for those who prefer to stay sober, or who simply prefer a drink without alcohol! Creative cocktails and sippers are no longer out of reach for those walking on the sober side, and Gnista would be an excellent addition to any of them!
Presented in a heavy-bottomed glass bottle with wood cork, the packaging lines up with what we would expect from a traditional fine spirit. The Gnista label features bold and modern graphics with an attractive abstract watercolor/marbled design. The sturdy glass bottle is classic and familiar, while the label hints at something fresh, modern, and on-trend.
The label boasts that Gnista is “bitter, aromatic, and intense” and they’re not lying! Gnista’s flavor is strong, herbal, complex, and definitely intense! Which is what we want when it comes to anything described as a “spirit”. This drink is great for those who love a strong drink with robust and somewhat bitter flavors. If you’re not a fan of sipping on gin, you probably won’t be a fan of sipping on this herbal drink, either. However, if you’re a fan of intensely flavored and aromatic herbal spirits in your cocktails, Gnista won’t disappoint. Wormwood lends a woody bitterness while green herbs lend freshness and orange peel adds just the right amount of citrusy peppery sweetness. Intense? Yes, but also balanced! They promise a bold and spirited taste and they bring it!
Gnista is perfect for rounding out your personal bar-cart or bringing to your next party or gathering. This unique and intriguing swedish “spirit” is sure to be a conversation starter AND a crowd-pleaser for cocktail-lovers!
