Susosu – a hydrogen water made from all natural mineral water from South Korea. With a mission of building a healthier tomorrow, the brand offers affordable product with 100 % recyclable packaging. Today, I have a pleasure of talking with Jheen Oh, Co-Founder of Susosu Water.
Well my dad has always been a trendsetter when it comes to the next big thing in health & wellness. He’s always been the guy that got me hip to the next health product/remedy way before it even gets national attention so he informed me about this new healthy water product from Japan called hydrogen water. Within a year, we set things up in Korea with a manufacturer and got things started.
Hydrogen water is water infused with extra molecular hydrogen. Susosu Hydrogen Water is a potent antioxidant with many health benefits. It is a natural energy booster, it’s an anti-inflammatory, and reduces the buildup of lactic acid.
Because our product is made in Korea, our biggest difficulty would be dealing with transporting the product from our manufacturer in Korea to the U.S. and going through customs/FDA. If there is a hold up with our shipment, it delays our operations. However, we have an incredible logistics team that help run a smooth operation.
It took time to find the right packaging for Susosu Water. The packaging of Susosu Water was carefully designed to contain and maintain the smallest molecular gas. Hydrogen gas can escape from glass and plastic bottles so we use a scientifically researched aluminum pouch. Once breaking the seal, hydrogen begins to escape so Susosu Water should be consumed under 30 minutes. Our 300ml pouch was designed to carry the perfect amount of water and meant to be drank in one sitting.
Our product is only available in the United States, however, we do plan on expanding to other countries.
Our target market are those who care about their health and well-being. Susosu Water adds a boost to their health regime and encourages preventative care.
Our biggest achievement would be the positive response we have been getting regarding our packaging although it is in a different language. In the future, we will be producing pouches in English but we will not abandon our Korean roots.
The best advice I would have given myself before I started out in the beverage business is that it takes a lot of perseverance just like with any other business. It’s not easy convincing the average consumer to drink this new form of water called hydrogen water. The team and I just got to stay focused and continue to spread the awareness.
