Masterpress (a Poland-based company) produced a shrink sleeve label for Żubrówka Special Edition vodka (French edition) that was selected as a finalist of the prestigious World Beverage Innovation Awards 2014. The shrink sleeve label by Masterpress was the only Polish product to have been included among the finalists of 2014 contest.
The Żubrówka Special Edition Shrink Sleeve competed in the “Best Packaging Design or Label” category. From amongst 28 entries in that category the jury chose 5 finalists, one being the Żubrówka Special Edition shrink sleeve label. The results were announced during the BrauBeviale 2014 trade show in Nurnberg.
“The shrink sleeve label decorating the Żubrówka Special Edition vodka emphasizes the brand’s premium feel. It was printed on a clear PET film through an innovative hybrid printing process which made it possible to achieve vibrant colors with flexo UV inks, while at the same time gravure capabilities allowed us to achieve the metallic gold finish. The entire process took place in-line, within a single press,” says Waldemar Zdrodowski, the VP at Masterpress. He adds, “We have also applied matte varnish, which softened some of the label’s artwork elements. Additionally, we used a solution that eliminated spots which could appear on the unprinted surface of the label due to condensation.”
The first edition of the World Beverage Innovation Awards was held in 2003, and during the past 11 years it has reached the status as being one of the most important awards in the beverage industry through rewarding and promoting the world’s best beverage innovations. This year’s edition gathered a total of 325 entries representing 40 countries, grouped into 26 different categories.
